Ingredients:
Elderberries (Sambucus nigra)*: Elderberries are high in antioxidants, dietary fiber, and vitamin C. They have a deep, rich berry taste, and are excellent immune-boosters which work to both ease and prevent cold and flu symptoms. The majority of our elderberries are organically-grown here on southern Vancouver Island, but depending on Mother Nature’s yearly offerings, we sometimes supplement our stock from certified organic farms in Europe (where the berries are native to).
Astragalus Root (Astragalus membranaceus)*: An ancient herb in TCM, astragalus has been traditionally used to bring balance to the body by stimulating the spleen, liver, lungs, circulatory, and urinary systems, while nourishing and protecting the heart and adrenals. It boasts powerful immune-boosting properties and can also help to relieve asthma, arthritis, and high blood pressure.
Ginger Root (Zingiber officinale)*: Ginger adds a deeply warming element to this tea blend by improving circulation and blood flow. It provides a pleasant hint of spice while reducing blood pressure, fighting inflammation, boosting the immune system, and easing digestive upset.
Echinacea (Echinacea purpurea)*: This beautiful flower is a known go-to for fighting off both viral and bacterial infections. It helps to soothe sore throats, reduce pain and inflammation, and support the immune system.
Lemon Balm (Melissa officinalis)*: Lemon balm is a wonderfully bright-tasting herb with very relaxing properties. It can help to ease anxiety and stress, protect the cells, and support the immune system. It has been known to help ease insomnia when consumed regularly, and can be beneficial for those experiencing mood swings, depression, or inflammation.
Rosehips (Rosa canina)*: Rosehips are naturally high in vitamins A, C, and E, as well as antioxidants which help to prevent and alleviate cold and flu symptoms. They help to soothe dry and irritated throats and sinuses, and may also offer relief of joint paint thanks to their anti-inflammatory compounds.
Cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum)*: The spicy/sweet bark of the cinnamomum tree has been long revered for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal properties. It helps to fight off invading bacteria to keep the cells healthy, the immune system alert, and the heart vibrant. At Flourish Apothecary, we utilize only true (ceylon) cinnamon, instead of the more commonly-used cassia variety, as it contains only a trace amount of coumarins (a compound which can be toxic to the liver when consumed frequently).
